Hex Converter


Here is my Hexidecimal converter.

For those who don't know what I mean by Hexidecimal and by Denary, here is a brief description:

Firstly, what is the denary number system? Well it is the number system you are most familiar with. All numbers 1,2,11,35,134 etc are called denary numbers. The denary number system is a base 10 number system, it is made of of 1’s, 10’s, 100’s etc, all of which are the base 10 to a power. So if we take the number 342, it can be viewed as three columns, a 3, a 4 and a 2. These three numbers tell us the parts that make up 342, there are 2 * 10^0 (1), 4 * 10^1 (10)and 3*10^2 (100).

The Hexadecimal number system is a base 16 number system, it is made of of 1’s, 16s, 32’s etc, all of which are the base 16 to a power. We can look at this is the following way:


Base 16^n16^016^116^216^3
Result1162564096
34554=AF68


Included above is an example of the number 34554. So we are being told that 34554 is made of 4096 * 8 + 256 * 6 + 16 * F + 1 * A. So the result is 86FA. You may be wondering why there are some characters (A,F) in the example. Well this is because the only numbers available to us are 1 to 9, yet in hexadecimal we need to represent up to the number 15. So we use characters:
